Stan Getz

Stan Getz (died 1991) was an American jazz tenor saxophonist known for a warm, lyrical tone and fluid, long-lined improvisations. He became associated with the cool jazz aesthetic in the 1940s and 1950s and later played a key role in bringing bossa nova repertoire into North American jazz contexts through collaborations with Brazilian musicians. His relaxed, breath-controlled sound and melodic phrasing made him an influential figure across several stylistic phases of modern jazz.
