Big Joe Turner

Big Joe Turner was an American blues singer known as a blues shouter whose powerful, resonant voice and commanding delivery suited jump blues and piano-driven boogie-woogie. Active in the mid-20th century, he worked with jazz and blues accompanists and is often cited as a performer who helped bridge traditional blues and the emerging rhythm and blues sound. He died in 1985.
