Paul's Boutique, released in 1989 by the Beastie Boys, pairs dense, sample-driven production with the group's rapid-fire, often tongue-in-cheek rapping. Produced mainly by the Dust Brothers, the album constructs collage-like tracks from layered loops and abrupt sample juxtapositions drawn from funk, soul, rock and other sources, creating a plunderphonics aesthetic and an experimental approach to East Coast hip hop.
