XTC

XTC was an English rock band formed in 1976 and active until 2006. Their music blended new wave and post-punk energy with melodic pop craftsmanship and increasingly elaborate studio arrangements, moving from abrasive guitar-driven songs to more ornate, psychedelic and orchestral pop textures. Primary songwriters Andy Partridge and Colin Moulding were known for concise, tuneful compositions, inventive arrangements, and literate lyrics, and the band became primarily a studio-focused group after ending regular touring in the early 1980s due to Partridge's difficulties with live performance.
