The Waitresses

The Waitresses were an American new wave band active from 1978 to 1984, formed by songwriter and guitarist Chris Butler and fronted by singer Patty Donahue. Their sound blended new wave and post-punk with pop and jazz-tinged touches, often featuring talk-sung vocals, witty narrative lyrics and off-kilter rhythmic arrangements that combined danceable grooves with an urbane, ironic sensibility.
