The Wailers

The Wailers were a Jamaican band formed in 1963 by Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, and Bunny Wailer and were active until 1974. Their music moved from ska and rocksteady into reggae, characterized by tight vocal harmonies, prominent bass and drum grooves, and lyrics often touching on Rastafari, social issues, and spirituality. As a central act in Jamaican popular music of the 1960s and early 1970s, they played a significant role in shaping the sound and wider perception of reggae before the group's lineup changed after 1974.
