The Triffids

The Triffids were an Australian band formed in 1978 in Perth and led by singer-songwriter David McComb. Their sound combined elements of post-punk and alternative rock with folk and country-inflected arrangements, often using atmospheric guitars, strings and pedal steel to create a cinematic, landscape-oriented mood. They spent part of their career in the United Kingdom and remained active through the 1980s before disbanding in 1989.
