Calenture

Calenture, released in 1987 by Australian band The Triffids, finds the group moving from their earlier spare, rootsy sound toward a more polished, cinematic rock and pop palette. David McComb's evocative, melancholic vocals and narrative lyrics sit against fuller arrangements that blend electric and acoustic guitars, keyboards and occasional strings, producing a brooding, widescreen atmosphere and recurring themes of longing and displacement.
