The Style Council

The Style Council was a British band formed in 1983 by Paul Weller with keyboardist Mick Talbot and active until 1989. They combined soul, jazz, funk and pop influences into a refined, keyboard-led sound that contrasted with Weller's earlier punk and mod rock work. The group often used sophisticated arrangements, brass and piano textures, and occasionally addressed social and political themes, placing them within 1980s sophisti-pop and blue-eyed soul currents.
