The Mountain Goats

The Mountain Goats are an American band formed in 1991 around singer-songwriter John Darnielle. They are known for literate, narrative songwriting and Darnielle's raw, direct vocal delivery; the group began with lo-fi, home-recorded acoustic tracks and later moved to fuller studio arrangements and rock instrumentation, often exploring character-driven stories and recurring thematic material.
