The Kingston Trio

The Kingston Trio was an American folk group formed in 1957, known for close three-part vocal harmonies, acoustic guitar-led arrangements, and a polished, accessible approach to traditional and contemporary folk material. Their sound combined tight ensemble vocals with rhythmic strumming and occasional banjo or percussion, and they helped bring folk music into a wider popular audience during the late 1950s and early 1960s. The original lineup included Dave Guard, Bob Shane, and Nick Reynolds; the group disbanded in 1967.
