The Human League

The Human League is a British band formed in 1977 in Sheffield, associated with the early synth-pop movement. They moved from experimental electronic beginnings to a more streamlined, pop-oriented sound built on synthesizer arrangements and drum machines, and featured Phil Oakey alongside vocalists Joanne Catherall and Susan Ann Sulley. Their music is marked by the interplay between Oakey's lead vocals and female harmonies and by polished electronic production.
