The Go‐Betweens

The Go-Betweens were an Australian band formed in 1978 by songwriters Robert Forster and Grant McLennan; their sound combined jangly, guitar-based indie rock and post-punk energy with literate, melodic songwriting and occasional chamber-pop textures introduced by collaborators such as Amanda Brown. Their work is noted for intimate, narrative lyrics, close vocal interplay and a shift between spare arrangements and more ornate production over time, and they are regarded as an influential presence in independent and alternative music. The group disbanded in 2006.
