The Coasters

The Coasters are an American vocal group formed in 1955, noted for blending rhythm and blues, doo-wop harmonies, and early rock and roll with a theatrical, often comic approach to storytelling. They worked closely with songwriters and producers Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, and became associated with character-driven, narrative songs delivered with tight ensemble singing, spoken-word passages, and rhythm-and-blues arrangements that influenced vocal-group pop in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
