The Chords

The Chords were an American doo-wop vocal group formed in 1951 and active through the mid-1950s. Their sound centered on close-harmony R&B drawn from street-corner vocal traditions, featuring a prominent lead tenor supported by layered backing parts and straightforward rhythmic accompaniment. As part of the early 1950s New York vocal-group scene, they are associated with the period when rhythm and blues vocal groups began moving toward more pop-oriented arrangements.
