The Chicks

The Chicks are an American country band formed in 1989 that combine traditional country and bluegrass instrumentation with contemporary country and pop influences. They emphasize tight vocal harmonies and acoustic musicianship, including prominent fiddle and banjo parts, and recruited Natalie Maines as their lead vocalist in 1995. The group has been notable for both its musicianship and for a later public political controversy, and in 2020 the band shortened its name from Dixie Chicks to The Chicks.
