The Byrds

The Byrds were an American rock band formed in 1964 and active until 1973, known for blending folk-based songwriting with electric instrumentation to help shape the folk rock sound. They became associated with a bright, jangly 12-string guitar tone, close vocal harmonies, and an evolving approach that embraced elements of psychedelia and country rock as personnel changed. Roger McGuinn was a central figure while the group underwent multiple lineup shifts over its career.
