The B‐52s

The B-52s are an American new wave band formed in Athens, Georgia in 1976, noted for a quirky, dance-oriented sound that mixes 1960s pop, surf rock, funk and punk influences. Their music features energetic rhythms, prominent keyboards and jangly guitars, distinctive vocal interplay with tight harmonies and playful spoken-word parts, and a campy, retro stage aesthetic. They became a prominent act from the Athens scene and are often associated with a lively, party-minded approach to new wave music.
