System of a Down

System of a Down is an American rock band formed in 1994 that blends alternative metal and hard rock with elements of Armenian folk, punk, and experimental music. Their sound is built on heavy, riff-driven guitars, abrupt tempo and dynamic shifts, and contrasting vocal styles, with Serj Tankian's expressive delivery complemented by Daron Malakian's guitar work and vocals. Lyrically they frequently address political and social topics and employ unconventional song structures and rhythms.
