Syd Barrett

Syd Barrett was an English singer, songwriter and guitarist who co-founded the rock band Pink Floyd and helped shape the group's early psychedelic direction. He was noted for whimsical, surreal lyrics, unconventional song structures and inventive guitar approaches that explored tone and studio effects. Barrett stepped away from the band in the late 1960s amid mental health difficulties, recorded solo material in the early 1970s and largely withdrew from public life before his death in 2006.
