Steve Goodman

Steve Goodman was an American folk singer-songwriter from Chicago, active in the 1970s and early 1980s, known for narrative, often wry songs that blended folk, country, and roots influences. He wrote the song "City of New Orleans", which was widely recorded by other artists, and was noted for his warm storytelling, acoustic guitar work, and roots-oriented arrangements. Goodman was part of the Chicago folk scene and continued to perform while living with illness until his death in 1984.
