Soft Cell

Soft Cell are a British synth-pop duo formed in 1980 by singer Marc Almond and keyboardist David Ball. Their music pairs spare, analog synth arrangements with theatrical, often melancholic vocals, drawing on cabaret, glam and post-punk influences. Lyrically they frequently explored nightlife, sexuality and urban alienation, and they are associated with the early 1980s electronic pop movement for their stark, dramatic take on synth-driven pop.
