Skip James

Skip James was an American Delta blues singer, guitarist and pianist known for his high, eerie falsetto and distinctive minor-key guitar tuning that produced a haunting, melancholic sound. His intricate fingerpicking and slide techniques, together with sparse piano work, set him apart within early country blues traditions and influenced later folk and blues revival musicians. He died in 1969.
