Sir Douglas Quintet

Sir Douglas Quintet was a US band formed in 1964 and active through 1973, led by Texan musician Doug Sahm. Their sound fused Tex-Mex and conjunto influences with rock, rhythm and blues, country, and blues, often featuring prominent organ and piano alongside twangy guitar and driving rhythms. They are associated with bringing Texas and Mexican-American musical elements into 1960s rock contexts and are remembered for an eclectic, roots-oriented approach to popular music of the era.
