Scritti Politti is a British band formed in 1978 and led by singer-songwriter Green Gartside. They began in the late 1970s within a post-punk, DIY scene with a raw, experimental sound and later shifted toward a polished, synth-driven pop approach that incorporated elements of R&B, funk and soul. The project is characterized by literate, wordplay-heavy lyrics and careful studio production that foregrounds smooth arrangements and melodic emphasis.
