Run‐D.M.C.

Run-D.M.C. was an American hip hop group formed in 1982, made up of Joseph "Run" Simmons, Darryl "D.M.C." McDaniels, and DJ Jason "Jam Master Jay" Mizell. They are associated with a spare, hard-hitting rap sound built around strong rhythmic beats and emphatic vocal delivery, and with incorporating rock-influenced elements and collaborations into their music. The group projected a streetwise visual identity, often wearing Adidas sneakers, tracksuits, and fedoras, and remained active until 2002.
