Roy Ayers is an American vibraphonist and bandleader known for blending jazz, funk, soul, and R&B into groove-oriented instrumental and vocal music; he led ensembles such as Roy Ayers Ubiquity and helped bring the vibraphone into funk and soul contexts, influencing later acid jazz and being frequently sampled in hip-hop.
