Robert Wyatt

Robert Wyatt is an English musician and singer-songwriter who came to prominence as a founding member and drummer of the Canterbury scene band Soft Machine and later pursued a solo career that blends progressive rock, jazz, and experimental pop. He is noted for a fragile, distinctive singing voice and idiosyncratic arrangements that mix jazz-inflected harmony, pastoral melodies, brass and electronic textures. After a fall in 1973 left him paralyzed from the waist down, he shifted focus from drumming to singing, composing and collaborating, and has been regarded as an influential figure in British experimental and art-pop circles.
