Natalie Cole was an American singer known for a versatile voice that navigated R&B, soul, jazz, and pop. The daughter of jazz pianist and singer Nat King Cole, she recorded both contemporary material and interpretations of standards, including a notable studio duet that paired her vocals with archival recordings of her father, and she was recognized for expressive phrasing and an ability to move between genres. Her career began in the 1970s and she died in 2015.
