Modern English

Modern English is an English rock band formed in 1979, associated with the post-punk and new wave movements. Their sound mixes chiming guitars, melodic basslines and synth textures with emotive vocals, ranging from sparse, moody arrangements to more upbeat, danceable tracks. They are commonly linked with the early 1980s British post-punk/new wave scene and noted for a melodic, atmosphere-driven approach to pop-inflected rock.
