Mecca Normal

Mecca Normal is a Vancouver, Canada duo formed in 1984 by vocalist Jean Smith and guitarist David Lester. They are known for a spare, often abrasive sound that pairs stark electric guitar with direct, spoken or shouted vocals and politically charged, feminist-oriented lyrics, and they have been associated with the DIY punk and independent alternative scenes of the 1980s and beyond.
