MC5

MC5 was an American rock band from Detroit active from 1964 to 1972, noted for a loud, hard-edged sound that blended garage rock, blues-rooted R&B and proto-punk energy. Their live performances were intense and explicitly political, linked with leftist activist circles in Detroit, and their lineup featured gritty lead vocals, a twin-guitar attack and a forceful rhythm section. The band is often cited as an influential precursor to later punk and hard rock acts.
