Mark Lanegan

Mark Lanegan was an American singer-songwriter known for his deep, gravelly baritone and his role as lead singer of the band Screaming Trees. His solo and collaborative work drew on blues-rooted rock, folk, and occasional electronic textures, and he recorded with artists including Queens of the Stone Age, Isobel Campbell, and Greg Dulli. Lanegan's voice and songwriting became a distinctive presence within alternative and indie circles. He died in 2022.
