Manu Dibango

Manu Dibango was a Cameroonian saxophonist and vibraphonist known for blending jazz, funk, and Cameroonian makossa rhythms into a danceable Afro-jazz sound. His playing emphasized warm, rhythmic saxophone lines and prominent grooves, and he worked across jazz, funk, and traditional styles to help bring Central African popular music to wider international audiences. He was active for decades and died in 2020.
