Lightnin' Hopkins

Sam "Lightnin'" Hopkins (died 1982) was an American blues guitarist and singer-songwriter associated with the Texas blues tradition. He was known for expressive, improvisational fingerstyle guitar, spare rhythmic accompaniment, and a conversational vocal delivery, often performing solo with acoustic or electric guitar. His repertoire drew on country blues themes and storytelling, and his direct playing and phrasing had a notable impact on later blues and rock performers.
