Lee "Scratch" Perry

Lee "Scratch" Perry was a Jamaican record producer and singer known for pioneering dub production and experimental studio techniques. Working largely from his Black Ark studio, he used creative layering, echo, reverb and found sounds to reshape reggae into more abstract, rhythmic and textural forms. His approach influenced the development of dub and had a lasting impact on reggae and later electronic and alternative music.
