Larry Young

Larry Young was an American jazz organist who moved the Hammond-organ role beyond blues-based soul-jazz toward a more modal and experimental approach. His mid-1960s work, notably the album Unity, emphasized open harmonies and adventurous soloing, and he later worked in electric fusion settings including with drummer Tony Williams's Lifetime.
