Jr. Walker & the All Stars

Jr. Walker & the All Stars were an American R&B and soul band led by saxophonist Junior Walker, formed in 1958 and active through the 1970s. Associated with Motown, the group combined gritty, jazz-tinged saxophone leads with driving rhythm and blues grooves and horn-based arrangements. Walker's rough-edged, expressive sax tone and the band's punchy, danceable backing gave their recordings a strong instrumental focus within the era's soul music. They disbanded in 1979.
