Joy Division

Joy Division was a British band formed in 1978 and active until 1980. Their sound combined stark, atmospheric post-punk with prominent, melodic basslines, angular guitar and synth textures, steady drum patterns, and the low, introspective vocals of lead singer Ian Curtis. The group is widely regarded as an important influence on post-punk and alternative music and disbanded after the 1980 death of Ian Curtis.
