John Zorn

John Zorn is an American composer, saxophonist and improviser associated with the downtown New York avant garde scene. His work is eclectic and often experimental, moving between free jazz, contemporary classical composition, noise, improvisation and musical ideas drawn from klezmer and film music, and he frequently combines strict compositional frameworks with open improvisation. He has led numerous ensembles and founded the independent label Tzadik to document experimental and contemporary music.
