John Martyn
John Martyn was a British singer-songwriter who blended folk, blues and jazz with experimental and ambient textures. He was noted for intimate, soulful vocals and innovative guitar techniques, including percussive fingerstyle and the use of echo and delay, and he collaborated frequently with players such as double bassist Danny Thompson. Over a career spanning from the late 1960s into the 2000s he combined folk roots with improvisational and atmospheric elements. He died in 2009.
