Jimmy Preston and His Prestonians

Jimmy Preston and His Prestonians were an American jump blues and rhythm and blues band led by saxophonist and vocalist Jimmy Preston. Their sound combined tenor sax-driven jump blues, boogie rhythms and energetic vocal shouts, reflecting the small-band R&B style that helped bridge swing-era dance music and early rock and roll in the late 1940s and early 1950s. The group recorded concise, dance-oriented numbers and tight ensemble arrangements typical of postwar R&B bands.
