Jefferson Starship

Jefferson Starship, formed in 1974 as an evolution of Jefferson Airplane, moved from 1960s psychedelic folk-rock toward a more polished rock sound that blended album oriented rock and pop elements with synthesizer textures and layered vocal harmonies. Initially guided by Paul Kantner and featuring contributions from former Airplane members alongside newer collaborators, the group favored tighter song structures and a more radio friendly production approach than their predecessors. The band experienced multiple lineup shifts and stylistic changes over the 1970s and 1980s, linking the San Francisco psychedelic legacy to mainstream rock trends of the era.
