Janis Joplin

Janis Joplin was an American singer active in the 1960s known for a raw, powerful, and emotive vocal style that blended blues, rock, and soul. She came to prominence as the lead singer of Big Brother and the Holding Company and later pursued a solo career, delivering energetic, improvisational performances and a distinctive rasp. Her work and stage presence made her a central figure in the late 1960s American rock scene; she died in 1970.
