Hank Williams

Hank Williams was an American singer-songwriter active in the late 1940s and early 1950s who helped shape modern country music. His songs paired direct, emotionally plain lyrics about heartbreak and everyday life with spare arrangements rooted in honky-tonk and traditional country instrumentation such as steel guitar and fiddle. Williams's distinctive, plaintive vocal delivery and concise songwriting style had a lasting influence on subsequent country and roots musicians. He died in 1953.
