Glenn Branca

Glenn Branca was an American avant-garde composer and guitarist known for assembling large electric guitar ensembles and exploring tuning, overtones, and dense harmonic textures. His work combined experimental composition techniques with rock instrumentation, using alternate tunings, microtonal interference and sustained harmonics to produce layered, physically intense soundscapes. Active in the downtown New York scene, Branca's approaches affected later experimental and noise rock musicians.
