Gerry Rafferty

Gerry Rafferty was a Scottish singer-songwriter known for blending folk, rock, and pop into polished, melodic songs. He worked both as a solo artist and as a member of the band Stealers Wheel, and his music is marked by warm, plaintive vocals, literate songwriting, and layered arrangements that often include acoustic guitar, keyboards, and saxophone. Rafferty combined roots-influenced folk elements with contemporary studio production, and he remained a distinctive figure in British singer-songwriter music until his death in 2011.
