Funky Four

Funky Four were an American hip-hop group active from 1979 to 1983. Their music reflected early hip-hop aesthetics, featuring rhythmic, party-oriented MCing, tight group vocal interplay, and DJ-focused backing tracks that emphasized breaks and looped grooves. They were part of the formative late 1970s and early 1980s rap scene and are representative of early rap collectives.
