Franco Battiato

Franco Battiato (died 2021) was an Italian singer-songwriter and composer whose work ranged from experimental electronic and progressive music in the 1970s to more melodic, lyrically driven pop and art-pop in later decades. He often blended synthesizer textures and classical instrumentation with philosophical, mystical and literary themes, and he also composed music for film and the stage. Battiato was known for crossing boundaries between avant-garde, popular and classical forms.
