Fats Waller and His Rhythm

Fats Waller and His Rhythm was the performing and recording ensemble led by American pianist and entertainer Thomas "Fats" Waller. The group played stride-influenced piano jazz and small-group swing, combining virtuosic piano, tight rhythmic ensemble work, and Waller's playful, charismatic vocals and stage patter. Their sound highlighted strong piano leads and lively syncopation and reflected Waller's role in the Harlem stride piano tradition and popular jazz of the 1930s.
